Table Talks: Honoring those lost at Club Q
This is a very short, and modified, episode of Coffee with Keith. It is not the scheduled episode but one I recorded from the heart. I wanted to just speak to the horrific event that happened at Club Q in Colorado Springs. I tried not to ramble but I must confess that it was a hard one to cut. The entire community mourns and for many, their days are now much more fearful. I get it. So, thank you for listening to this old bi guy share from his heart. In memory of Kelly Loving, Daniel Ashton, Derrick Rump, Ashley Pough, and Raymond Green Vance. May God bless us all. …

Bi Talks: Why do Older Bisexuals suffer such alarming degrees of mental illness?
Studies show us that the Bisexual community does suffer mental illness at a higher degree than does any other sector of the queer community; and although there are many suggestions why, the reasons can still be debated. So, with this in mind, I decided to reflect on my 30+ years of experience and my own personal life as a bisexual man to suggest some reasons why. To do so, I use an acrostic: "TRAP." Why? Because many of the older (silver) bisexuals I have worked with over all these years often use that word or something similar to describe their feelings and situation in life. So, I decided to use…

Table Talks: Some Lesson Learned with Gay Christian, Matt Linden
I am so very excited to again invite Matt Linden to the podcast. This is Matt's third visit to Coffee with Keith and this gave us a chance to catch up and gave Matt a chance to share three lessons that he has really learned over the last 12-18 mos. of his queer, Christian journey. Matt Linden is a gay Christian from Tacoma, Washington. He’s a church kid who grew up in a conservative non-denominational environment – so when he realized he was gay at 13, a 21-year battle began to reconcile his faith with his sexuality. He was a member and Community Group leader at Mars Hill Church in…

Who or what is the “Word?”
John 1: 1 say, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Many Christians suggest that this verse refers to the Bible, the Scriptures of the faith; however, if one takes the effort to dive deeper into the chapter and book of the Gospel, one will see that the reference here is Jesus. Jesus is the WORD. Now, don't get me wrong...I believe the Bible is a vital book for faith. I believe it teaches, inspires, and directs us to a better knowledge of God and God's heart. I believe it to be a collection of independent books, written by men,…

Table Talks: What qualifications do I need to help others in Trauma?
Welcome to this week's episode of Table Talks here on the Coffee with Keith podcast. This is a solo episode where I answer an email from one of my listeners. In this episode you will hear 5 possible routes to becoming a Christian "counselor." Maybe you are a person who is thinking about doing this work and are curious which way to go. I hope this episode will help you determine the fit for you. But...If you aren't interested in pursuing…

Bisexual Talks: My partner is feeling insecure
This is something that I have heard hundreds of times within my work. I have even heard it from my own spouse. It's a real thing and it's a real issue to deal with. Today, on this Bi Talks episode of Coffee with Keith, I want to use the word "love" as an acrostic to share 4 simple actions to incorporate into this situation. Remember, it is very likely that your partner will feel moments of insecurity because of your bisexuality. I am simply encouraging you to be proactive in your relationship. Now, I know there are many nuances among relationships out there but I do feel that doing these…

Bible Talks: Old but Sometimes True
Well, ware are once again back in the book of Acts on this Bible Talks episode of Coffee with Keith. After a quick summary of Chapters 2 and the beginning of 3, I take a look at verses 11-26. In this section, we once again see Peter back at it as he preaches to the Jewish audience around him. Now, the message is similar to his last because he calls them to repentance, but there is a little more understanding I find in this sermon. I also love the promise that Peter makes to those who realize their mistake with Jesus and come to Him. Take a moment to read…
