Coming Out as Queer: a chat with therapist, Molly Downs-Stoller

I am excited to Invite Molly to the "Coffee with Keith," podcast today as we discuss the issue of "Coming Out." Molly Downs-Stoller is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. She lives outside of San Diego with her wife and our dog, Sir Andrew James. She loves gardening, reading, spending time in nature and appreciates a good cup of coffee! She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Point Loma Nazarene University and a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. She has been working in the mental health field for over 15 years and have extensive history working with anxiety, depression, trauma, and crisis intervention. I am also trained in EMDR and currently a student of Internal Family Systems (IFS).

Molly grew up in the catholic church, but started going to a Southern Baptist youth group in high school and was involved in conservative evangelical churches up until 6 years ago when she met and and fell in love with her wife. She then began to ask the hard questions, which weren’t welcomed at her conservative church. Molly now works with The Christian Closet and provides individual and group therapy for queer Christians. She says she is truly blessed to be able to help people sort through what they believe in, how they see God, how they see themselves, and how God sees them.
